Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana has been started for the economically weaker sections, in which they will be provided the benefit of insurance in case of accident on depositing a premium of Rs 12 annually through the lowest rate. If the person dies in an accident or becomes physically handicapped, then in that case the person can claim accident insurance up to Rs 2 lakh under the scheme by the government. But this Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana benefits only the poor people.

Objectives of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
The main objective of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana is to provide insurance claim assistance to the poor families who are unable to provide health facilities for themselves in case of any kind of accident. In such a situation, those poor families have to go through a bunch of difficulties for the convenience of treatment. Partially disabled citizens will be provided with the facility to claim insurance up to Rs 1 lakh under the scheme. An opportunity to claim insurance of Rs 2 lakh will be available under the scheme, who has died due to accident. Even in the event of complete disability, citizens can claim up to Rs 2 lakh.

Payable Amount for PM Suraksha Bima Yojana
All persons between the age of 18 years to 70 years are eligible to join the scheme by the central government who have an account in any bank. If a citizen has more than one bank account, he can only get the benefit of this insurance scheme through the one bank account. Aadhaar card will be the primary form of KYC for the individual’s bank account. Under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, the period of insurance cover has been fixed for one year, whose premium policy time has been fixed from June 1 to May 31. The premium amount under the scheme will be paid through auto credit from the bank account of the beneficiary citizens.

Benefits of PM Suraksha Bima Yojana
- Under this insurance scheme Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, all citizens who are economically weaker section can get the benefit of insurance in case of accident.
- All bank account holders and citizens from the age of 18 years to 70 years can join PM Suraksha Bima Yojana to take insurance.
- The premium amount of Rs 12 will be auto debited from the bank account of the beneficiary on an annual basis.
- The premium policy term has been fixed from 1st June to 31st May.
- If the person has bank accounts at different banks, then he can join this PM Suraksha Bima Yojana from any one bank.
- If a person is partially disabled due to an accident, then he will get an insurance coverage amount of Rs 1 lakh under the scheme.
- Along with this, in the event of death or in case of complete physical disability, the beneficiary citizen will get a sum insured of Rs 2 lakh.
