Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) account is requested to open from any bank branch or Business Correspondent (Bank Mitra) outlet.
This opening bank accounts for the poor, giving them electronic means of payment (via RuPay cards), and placing them in a position to avail themselves of credit and insurance.

Features and Benefits under PMJDY Scheme.
- PMJDY account is a zero balance account, so you need to invest any amount in the opening.
- PMJDY provides accidental Insurance cover of Rs. 1 Lac under the Rupay Scheme, and Accidental insurance cover is Rs. 2 Lac.
- Account holder claim shall be payable if the Rupay Cardholder has performed a minimum of one successful financial or non-financial year.
- Beneficiaries of Government Schemes will get Direct Benefit Transfer in the account holders.
- Government schemes such as the Ujjwala Scheme, Saubhagya Scheme, and much more are eligible.
- Account holder gets satisfactory operation of the account for six months, and an overdraft facility will be permitted.
- Overdraft facility up to Rs. 10000/- is available in only one account per household, preferably lady of the household subject to eligibility and overdraft for Rs. 2000/- is hassle-free.
- The scheme provides a life cover of Rs.30,000/- payable on the beneficiary’s death, subject to fulfillment of the eligibility condition as per norms.
- PMJDY provides an interest rate of 4% on these accounts and an effortless transfer of money across India.
