IPL 2021 Cancelled
Indian Premier League 2021 has been suspended indefinitely on Tuesday, 4 May. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took this massive decision after two more players were infected. With the postponement in the middle of the world’s largest cricket league, now the talk of the loss of the board is coming out.
So far, almost half of the IPL has been done. That is, every team has played seven to eight matches and there were more matches to be played. Meanwhile, things got so bad that even the players living in the environment and some staff members were caught by Corona and after that there was no other way than to postpone the IPL for the time being.
BCCI, teams may lose more than Rs 3,000 crore
While the cricket fans are disappointed with the postponement of IPL 14, the BCCI has also suffered heavy losses. It is not easy to guess the same. A source of BCCI while talking to PTI has said that the loss of 2000 to 2500 crores is almost certain from the postponement of IPL.
It is believed that due to the absence of IPL 2021, the BCCI will incur a direct loss of Rs 3000 crore. The biggest loss in this is being said to be about broadcasting revenue, estimated a loss of 1690 crores. BCCI was also supposed to get Rs 440 crore from the sponsorship, but now it is believed that only half of the amount will be available to BCCI. Apart from the main sponsor, many more sponsors were associated with BCCI for IPL 2021, but now they might not even give the full amount to BCCI. Together, it sits close to three thousand crore rupees.
Although there were 31 matches to be played in the 60-match tournament, BCCI had to suspend the tournament in the midst of the rising havoc of Corona. After this decision, the Board of Control for Cricket in India may get this shock of 3000 crores. It is also being said that due to the postponement of the league in the middle season, they are likely to suffer a loss of 3000 crores. Broadcasting revenue will be the biggest loser.
Will IPL 2021 Continue?
As we’ve mentioned before, the situation is not clear about when the IPL will be again. Not for at least two to three months. Now when IPL will happen, it is not clear yet, but if IPL happens then it will start from where it has ended.
By this time, talking about the points table of IPL 2021, it is clear that Delhi Capitals remains at number one with 12 points. Delhi Capitals have played eight matches in IPL 2021 and have won six of them.
At number two in the points table is Chennai Super Kings captained by MS Dhoni. This team also has ten points. At the same time, RCB is captained by Virat Kohli at number three. RCB also has ten digits.
In this way, these three teams remain at the forefront and if IPL 14 starts from here, then these three teams are almost certain to qualify for the playoffs. We hope that the cases of corona that are increasing in the country will be controlled and things will go well soon.
