The second wave of the corona epidemic has devastated families and businesses beyond measure. Children in particular have been hit the hardest.

Children were so vulnerable that they lost their parents to the deadly virus. Seven-year-old Krishna was one of many such children who lost both of their parents to Corona. Coming from the Balasore district of Odisha, she was forced to not only deal with the misery of losing her parents but also to save her 45-days-old brother.
At this young age the little girl has accepted the responsibility of raising her brother. Krishna and her brother are currently living with their maternal grandparents, uncle and aunt.

Krishna’s mother, Smita Panda, was a staff nurse at Acharya Harihar Cancer Hospital. Meanwhile Corona was infected with the disease when she was nine months pregnant during the second wave. She gave birth to a baby boy while in the government ward. As the days passed, she and her husband gave up to corona.
Little Krishna is forced to take care of her brother. In that sense, she accepts the role of a mother and raises her brother with love and dignity.
