Shammi Agarwal’s great-grandfather ran a grocery store in Delhi in the 1940s. After that his grandfather, Goku Chand developed this shop into a wholesaler of cooking oil. This was the beginning of the Bansari Group.

Then in 1962. He set up an oil plant in West Bengal called Bansari Industries. In the 1990s the group began to focus on production from trade. From 1990 to 2005 the Group set up seven manufacturing centers in North India.

Today the group has emerged as a leading company in the market. It sells soybean oil, refined oil, and mustard oil in India and abroad.

Bansari Group has occupied 17 percent of the market in the segment around Delhi. It has presence in all the states of North India. The company also sells some products in South India. In addition, the Bansari Group operates in 42 countries, including Canada, the United States, Australia and Singapore.

Shammi, an MBA graduate, joined the business in 2010. He was the first to take steps to keep professional employees.

In 2008, the company expanded into sectors including real estate, teak and energy. Shammi says the company continues to grow as it adapts to change and innovation.

International market

Bansari Group entered the international market in 2018. Expanded to countries including UK, Kanda, USA.

He also says that Indian products are well demanded in abroad for a variety of reasons, including the fact that Indian people living abroad prefer Indian products. Moreover, he says there is not much competition in the international market.
