It is never too late to fulfill your dreams. We hear it over and over again, but often we don’t meet people who actually express the idea!
Komal Devi, a 62-year-old resident of Hyderabad, is an example of this example. As the founder of the haircare brand Venica Herbals, Komal can be found addressing the needs and concerns of her clients these days, or the questions she is asked by journalists that may possibly help her in D2C at this stage of life. What inspired you to start the brand can be found in the answer.
“Many others ask the same question, ‘Why are you doing business at this age and for what?’ But this is for me. This is my dream,” Komal says over the phone call.
Let us tell you that Komal was 56 years old when she founded the Ayurvedic brand Venica Herbals , which offers a range of organic and preservative-free hair and skin care products licensed by the Department of AYUSH, Government of Telangana.
Age does not matter
Komal, the daughter of an income tax officer, married a doctor in 1987 and moved to Iran with her husband. During her six-year stay in Iran, she began taking several beauty treatment courses before returning to India for the education of her children.
However, a turning point in life came when her husband died in a car accident. Taking the responsibility of the household himself, he began anchoring and dubbing on Doordarshan channel, and by 1990 acted in a few telefilms, feature films, stage plays and several documentaries.
In 1991, she met a Persian cosmetologist in Hyderabad from whom she learned advanced courses in electrolysis, treatment of obesity, advanced hair and skin therapy.
Confident enough to experiment with her own outlet, she launched the beautiful Obesity Electrolysis Beauty Clinic and opened another branch in 1997.
When both of her sons were set in corporate jobs, she went to Canada several times, to meet her eldest son, and once again took training in Ayurveda as well as different skills. Her formulas and solutions were well received by her clients but the personal development course inspired her to start a business.
